Portsmouth - Arthur B. Watson, Jr., also remembered as "Binky", peacefully departed from this world and was called to an eternal rest on December 3, 2011. He was born on May 28, 1966 in Norfolk, VA to Joyce C. and the late Arthur B. Watson, Sr.
With a remarkable gift of generosity, he gave from his heart without hesitation. He was consumed with an incredible energy to make others laugh and was joyous even in the most difficult times.
Binky matriculated through the Portsmouth Public School System and was a 1984 graduate of Cradock High School. He was a graduate of Norfolk State University and was previously employed as a Special Education Instructor in the Norfolk and Portsmouth School Systems. He was a member of Truth Transformation Ministries of Chesapeake, VA since 2003.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his mother, Joyce Cherry Watson; grandmother, Althea Cherry; sister, Pastor Crystal W. Hawthorne; brother-in-law, Dr. Roderick S. Hawthorne; niece, Christian Hawthorne;nephew, Roderick Hawthorne II; and a host of cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends for a viewing on Thursday from 12:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Fisher Funeral Home, 1520 Effingham St., Portsmouth, VA. The funeral service will be conducted on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at New Bethel Baptist Church, 4212 Greenwood Dr., Portsmouth, VA.
