Harley E. Pruitt, CHS-52 died on the last day of summer 2016.

 

Portsmouth - Harley Eugene Pruitt, 81, died peacefully September 21, 2016. A native of Landrum, SC, he was predeceased by his parents, Willie B. and Lela Mae Searcy Pruitt; and brother, Everett L. Pruitt.

 

Harley was the owner of Pruitt Motor Corporation; He was a member of VIADA since 1984, serving on the Board of Directors for many years and as President of the Hampton Roads Chapter of VIADA, and was elected Quality Dealer of the Year by his peers. He was a member of the Ambassador Club for over 50 years, and a member of Elizabeth Manor Golf and Country Club, where he was a part of a Sunday morning golf group. He was an Army National Guard Veteran, serving in the office of Finance during the Vietnam War.

 

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Jane O. Pruitt; daughter, Robin Devine of Virginia Beach; and two grandchildren, Kellan Devine of Philadelphia, PA and Ian Devine of Virginia Beach.

 

The family will receive friends and family at the Sturtevant Funeral Home, Friday, Sept. 23, from 6-8 PM. The funeral service will be held Saturday, Sept. 24, at 1 PM at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel. The burial will be immediately following the service in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Ambassador Club Scholarship Fund.
