Larry Colin Harrell Jr., 31, of Harvard Road, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002, after a long and courageous battle with leukemia.
A native of Portsmouth, he was the son of Larry C. Harrell Sr. and Jane Read Harrell, both of Suffolk and the husband of Carol Ann Tuttle Harrell. He was an ironworker and a member of Ironworkers Union Local No. 79. He was an avid golfer and fisherman.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by a daughter, Brandi Kaela Harrell of Portsmouth; a sister, Deanna H. Stuart of Chesapeake; maternal grandmother, Helen R. Hodges of Suffolk; paternal grandmother, Helen W. Harrell of Chesapeake; and a host of loving family and friends.
A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by Dr. Archie Corbin. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Friends of Larry, c/o Towne Bank, Hodges Ferry Branch.
