PORTSMOUTH - Kyle Richard Gavin passed away April 16, 2010 in his home. He was born in Portsmouth April 16, 1963 and was a 1982 graduate of Cradock High School. Kyle's spirit and impressions live on in each of us who were blessed to know him. He was a dedicated husband to Julie Masters Gavin, a devoted father to Shaun and River Gavin and a friend to many. He excelled as an artist and as a City of Norfolk firefighter. He was blessed by the volunteer labor and continuous support of his fire department family. In addition to his wife and sons, he is survived by his mother, Helen Gavin-Renaud (Norm); two brothers, Douglas (Bev), Gregory (Shannon); grandmother, Hazel "Cha-Cha" Mills; father-in-law, Theodore "Ted" Masters; and 12 nieces and nephews. Sharon and Madison Mason are in his family tree along with many aunts and uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Kenneth Gavin. Kyle's love of family and friends was conveyed through his unselfish sharing of labor and family bonding. Many thanks to all who prayed for and supported the family through donations and fund raising. A special thanks to Tyler and Lisa McMillen for all their care and support. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 22, at the Snellings Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel, with Pastor Leroy Briggs Sr., chaplain Norfolk Fire Dept.
