Portsmouth - Paulette J. Mitchell 54, of the 2700 block of Portsmouth Blvd. passed on February 29, 2012 in Maryview Hospital. She was born in Portsmouth, Va. A guidance counselor at Princess Anne High School for over 20 years where she retired.

She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church where she was former clerk of the church and served in various capacities in other church ministries. Also, a former member of the I. Sherman Greene Chorale for many years. A member of Alpha Kappa Alpha, Sorority, Inc. A 1975 graduate of Cradock High School. Continuing her education at Virginia State University and receiving her masters degree at Old Dominion University.

Leaving to cherish her memories a sister Beatrice Jones, a brother William E. Brown, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, dear and special friends.

Funeral service Monday 1 p.m. Ebenezer Baptist Church by Rev. Leroy Hill. The interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Chesapeake, Va. Viewing will be Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m., where the family will receive friends from 4 to 5 p.m. and the Sorority ritual will take place. The family will assemble the at funeral home Monday at
