James Clifton Buck Jr., 52, left this life to be with his Father in heaven April 15, 2007, after a sudden illness. Jimmy passed away in Chesapeake General Hospital.
Jimmy was born on Feb. 8, 1955, to the late James C. Buck Sr. and Billie T. Waters. He was a lifelong resident of Cradock in Portsmouth and was a master carpenter, having helped build many of the homes in Southside Hampton Roads. Jimmy had a great love for animals, and loved fishing on the Chesapeake Bay, having recently caught a citation striped bass.
Besides his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by a brother, Dennis Buck and a special friend, Terry "Bear" Barclay. Jimmy is survived by four brothers, Jesse Buck and wife Teresa of Richmond and Larry, Jerry and Danny Buck, all of Portsmouth; and special friends, Clyde E. McFarland Jr. of Hampton and Wayne Gibson of Portsmouth; also many aunts and uncles, two nieces and a nephew.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Rev. Lawrence Bates. Immediately following the service the family would like to invite friends to a wake at 2656 Village Ave., Chesapeake, to celebrate Jimmy’s life with food, music and memories. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Portsmouth Animal Shelter.
