PORTSMOUTH - Dorothea Susan "Sue" Alphin, 53, of the 200 block of Rockbridge Road, went to be with God May 9, 2009. She was a devoted mother and wife.

Sue is survived by her loving husband, Guy; daughters, Cindy Thomason of New Bern, N.C., and Tina White of Portsmouth; three stepdaughters; a stepson; two grandchildren;
six stepgrandchildren; and a stepgreat-grandson.

The family will welcome friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. in Sturtevant Funeral Home, 5201 Portsmouth Blvd. A graveside service will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. in the Hofler Family Cemetery, Gatesville, N.C. www.SturtevantFuneralHome.com.
