Robert Yates, CHS-68, brother of Richard Yates, CHS-70, Danny Yates, CHS-67 and Patrica Yates Nottingham ,CHS-63 died last Saturday.

Obituary:

Robert James Yates, 66, of the 200 block of Deal Dr., passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2016. He was a native of Portsmouth and was a security officer for the Portsmouth Sheriff Department. He had previously been retired from the Portsmouth Police Department. Robert was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church and the North South Skirmish Association.

He is survived by his wife, Karen Day Yates; one sister, Patricia Nottingham (George) of Chesapeake; two brothers, Richard Yates (Cathy) of Portsmouth and Daniel Yates (Linda) of Virginia Beach; three God children, Michelle, Levi, Ryan and several nieces and nephews.

The Liturgy of the Resurrection will be celebrated 11 AM Friday, Sept. 9, 2016 at the Church of Saint Therese in Chesapeake. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel on Thursday from 7-8 PM.
