Victim of U.S. 58 motorcycle crash was Chesapeake man

SUFFOLK

Police Monday identified a man who died the day before in a motorcycle crash on U.S. 58.

Johnny Lee Prater, 58, of the 2600 block of N. Elizabeth Harbour Drive in Chesapeake, died when the motorcycle he was riding crashed just before 2 p.m. Sunday at the Southwest Bypass, said Lt. D.J. George, a police spokeswoman.

Prater was traveling south when he apparently lost control on an exit ramp and struck a guardrail, George said.
