Went to be with her Lord and Savior August 31, 2007 in Spokane, WA. Sandy was diagnosed with cancer in March and passed away peacefully at her home with her mother and two sisters at her side. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. Sandra Jo was born Dec 2, 1947 in Los Angeles, CA to James V Johnston and Geraldene Emry Johnston. She was the second oldest of eight children. She graduated from Craddock H.S. in Portsmouth, VA in 1966 and had several different jobs until she started working at Immigration & Naturalization Service where she worked for over 25 years. Sandy is survived by: her loving mother; five brothers, and their spouses, Sidney (Gretchen), Rick (Merilee), Mike (Rosemary), Peter (Bridget), and Paul (Janet); two sisters, Debby Johnston, and Becky Kittredge (Roger). She is also survived by her 21 beloved nieces and nephews; two great-nephews; two aunts; an uncle and any cousins. Sandy attended South Hill Bible Church for many years and was also a council member for the Red Sea Team International, a missions organization. A memorial service is planned for Sandy at South Hill Bible Church, 958 E. 29th on Saturday, Sept 8 at 11:00 am. Officiating the memorial is Pastor Sonny Westbrook and Rev Rick Johnston (brother of Sandy). Arrangements have been entrusted to HAZEN & JAEGER FUNERAL HOME, 1306 N. MONROE, SPOKANE, WA.
