George Russell Britton Jr., 51, of the 100 block of Francis St., died May 17, 1999, in Chesapeake.

A native of Portsmouth, he was retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard and was a former motion picture photographer at Fort Eustis. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. Mr. Britton was a member of Eastern Virginia Officials Association.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara G. Britton; his father, George Russell Britton Sr.; a daughter, Jennifer C. Britton; a son, Brian R. Britton; a sister, Rebecca P. Davis, all of Portsmouth; and a brother, William L. Britton of Winchester, Va. He was predeceased by his mother, Cora Lundy Britton.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Rev. Daniel Stalls. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home and other times at 3117 Elliott Ave.
