Richard G. Snipes
PORTSMOUTH - Richard Grier Snipes, 59, of Wise Road, died July 26, 2006, at Autumn Care of Mocksville in Mocksville, N.C. Mr.
Snipes was born Nov. 27, 1946, in Norfolk to the late Jack Snipes and Virginia Roundtree Snipes. He had been employed with Norfolk Naval Shipyard. Mr. Snipes was a veteran of the United States Army having served in Vietnam with the First Calvary Division and was a member of Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 48.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Snipes. Survivors include his mother of Chesapeake; a daughter, Christy Snipes of Memphis, Tenn.; a son, Bryan Snipes and wife Kristi of Clemmons, N.C.; a sister-in-law, Petrina Snipes of Chesapeake; two nieces, Emily and Anna Snipes; and two nephews, Michael Porter and Nicholas Snipes.
A memorial service will be conducted at noon Saturday in the chapel of Greenlawn Cemetery in Portsmouth. Memorial contributions may be made to The Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, 6350 N. Andrews Ave., Fort Lauderdale, FL 33309, or to the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chap. 969, 2258 Bayberry St., Virginia Beach, VA 23451. Eaton Funeral Home of Mocksville is serving the family of Mr. Snipes.
