Dennis Walter Novack
Class of 1965

Dennis Walter Novack, 70, passed away on Monday, December 12, 2016, in Durham, NC. He was born in Norfolk, Va., to the late Lawrence and Elma Novack. Dennis was a member of Cross Culture Baptist Church in Raleigh, NC.

He was a graduate of Cradock High School in Portsmouth, Va., and graduated from Va. Tech Univ. with a degree in Electrical Engineering.

Dennis retired from the Dept. of Defense, Naval Sea Systems Command in 1997, after 30 years of service, and then retired again after 15 years of service at Duke University, where he handled all things ADA facility-related.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Gail Novack, of nearly 50 years, his daughter Jennifer and her 2 sons, Ryan (17) and Camden Schiman (15), his daughter Amy, and son-in-law Bobby Jenkins, and their daughter, Daisy (7), and 23 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brothers Charles Novack, CHS-58 and Nathan Novack, CHS-56.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, December 17, at Sturtevant Funeral Home Chapel, 5201 Portsmouth Boulevard, Portsmouth, Va. 23701, with viewing and visitation starting at noon. Burial will follow at Olive Branch Cemetery.

In addition, a Memorial Service will be held Thursday, January 19, 2017 at 2:30 pm, at the Duke Memorial Chapel in Durham, NC.

Flowers and contributions to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America are both welcome
