William Leary, 49, formerly of Portsmouth, died Feb. 14, 1996, in Washington, D.C.

He was a native of Portsmouth and the son of Katherine Lee Leary of Portsmouth and the late Wilbur Talmadge Leary. Mr. Leary worked for Beaver Press, Washington, D.C. He was a member of MCC of Washington, D.C., and Navy Hospital Corpsman.

Survivors include a sister, Katherine L. Smith of Kill Devil Hills, N.C.; two brothers, Dr. Richard L. Leary of Springfield, Ill., Thomas R. Leary Sr. of Suffolk.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by Dr. David L. Denny. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. today.
