Randolph Edward Vernon, 68, known as Rannie, died peacefully on
Sunday, March 1, 2015 at ManorCare Nursing Home, Abbeyville Rd.,
Lancaster, PA.
Mr. Vernon struggled with various illnesses and injuries for the
past year and a half.
He was the son of the late Florence Virginia (Cash) and Loderick
Vernon of Covington, VA.
He was a graduate of Craddock High School, VA and William and Mary
College in Williamsburg, VA where he got his degrees in Business and
Political Science.
In the 1970's, Mr. Vernon was co-owner of P.C.E., a plastic
extrusion company in Baltimore, MD and Better Bag in Aberdeen, MD.
In the 1980's, he and Martha Sue Hanson started a company called Cat
House Originals in Aberdeen, MD which specialized in the
manufacturing and distribution of pet products. This business grew
into Cat Palace and Cat House Internationals with worldwide
distributors.
In 2001, Mr. Vernon and his partner sold all of the pet industries
and semi-retired. They opened an antiques and collectibles store
called Rev Chi Antiques located at 342 N. Queen St., Lancaster, PA.
This store grew into many locations including Rev Chi's West, Rev
Chi Annex, A Touch of Elegance, and Charles Used Furniture, all in
Lancaster City.
Mr. Vernon is survived by his ex-wife, Carole Prato of Paw Paw, WV,
and his business and life partner, Kerry Heffner, who continues to
operate Rev Chi Antiques.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Memorial
Service at Kearney A. Snyder Funeral Home, 141 E. Orange St.,
Lancaster, PA 17602 on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at 7:30 PM with
Kerry Heffner officiating. Friends may greet Kerry from 7:00 PM
until the time of the service. Private interment will be held at a
later date.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. Vernon's memory may be made
to the American Cancer Society, 314 Good Drive, Lancaster, PA 17603.
