Stephen Dale Stewart, 51, of the 2700 block of N. Nansemond Drive, died Sept. 27, 1995, in Salem, Va.

He was a native of Iredell County, N.C., and was currently employed as a truck driver for Gwaltney of Smithfield. Mr. Stewart was a member of Sweethaven Baptist Church, Portsmouth, and he was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War.He is survived by his wife, Betty R. Stewart; parents, A.V. and Hazel Pierce Stewart, both of Portsmouth; daughter, Debra S. Parker of Suffolk; two sons, Stephen David Stewart of Chesapeake, and Christopher D. Stewart of Suffolk; two brothers, Lesley Stewart of Portsmouth and Wesley Stewart of Richmond; and three grandchildren, Kimberly, Jonathan and Christopher.

A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Bennetts Creek Chapel, by the Rev. Damon E. Wyatt. Entombment is in Meadowbrook Memorial Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at the Sturtevant Funeral Home, Bennetts Creek Chapel, today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
