Portsmouth - Marcia Davenport Barrick, 73, passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2017, at her home after a courageous battle with cancer.

A native of Portsmouth, she was born to the late Joseph and Joan Davenport. Marcia retired from civil service from COMNAVSURFLANT and later owned Nearthebay Antiques in downtown Portsmouth. She was a dedicated member of Westhaven Baptist Church.

Those left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Marcia "Beth" Pallette and husband Osie and Joan Berry Barrick Blount and husband Kevin; one son, Christopher Douglas Barrick and wife Pam; three grandchildren, Stephen L. Barrick, Christopher Barrick, Jr. and Richard E. Barrick.

A funeral service will be held 2 P.M. Sunday, January 29 at Westhaven Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Olive Branch cemetery. The family will greet friends at a reception following the service at the church. Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel is handling arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Westhaven Baptist Church.
