Thomas Dewey Whitt, 56, of the 2800 block of North Shore Drive, died April 1, 1999, in a local hospital.

A native of Fayetteville County, W.Va., he was an assistant manager and a member of Lions International.

Survivors include a sister, Hazel Simmons of South Mills, N.C.; two nephews, Raymond Simmons of South Mills and Calvin Drake Jr. of Portsmouth; and a great-nephew, Aaron Simmons of South Mills.

A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Carlton E. Smith. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel
