James Edward Mims, Jr.

Chesapeake - James Edward Mims, Jr., 65 , died Monday, October 8, 2012 in a Portsmouth hospital. A native of Portsmouth, he was a retired district manager for Murray Cookies. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He loved his family very much, and they meant the world to him.

Survivors include his wife, Pansy P. Mims; two daughters, Kimberly D. Smith and husband Ethan and Krystal M. Whitson and husband Jeff; a sister, Faith M. Berry and husband Don and three grandchildren, Aiden E. Smith and Kailey A. McCaskill, and Eric L. Whitson. He was preceded in death by his parents James and Margie Mims ,and a daughter, Katherine L. Mims.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 12, in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel by the Rev. T. M. Frye. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 7-8:35 p.m. and at other times 4121 Sunnyfields Rd. Portsmouth, VA 23703
