Margaret Edwards Sharp, 70, of Roanoke, peacefully left this life on
January 21, 2012, after a long illness. She was preceded in death by
her parents, John and Mary Edwards of Portsmouth. Left to cherish
her memory are her husband, Ralph Sharp; sons and daughter-in-law,
Scott, Nick, and Kim Sharp; and grandchildren, Sarah, Tyler, and
Emily, all of Roanoke. Also surviving are her sister and
brother-in-law, Pat and Fuller Bunting; nephews, Mike and Chris
Bunting and family, of Florida; sister-in-law and brother-in-law,
Jean and Harold Burnett; nieces and nephew, Cindy Allen and family,
Stephanie and Mark Burnett, all of the Charlottesville area; several
aunts, uncles, cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews, and a very dear
friend, Susan Hurd, of Roanoke.
Margaret was a Hollins College graduate and retired from Roanoke
City Social Services. She was a member of Cave Spring Baptist
Church. Special thanks go out to her devoted Sunday School class
members for their caring andfriendship. Funeral services will be
conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 25, 2012, at Oakey's South
Chapel, with Pastor Pete Schemm and Minister Chuck Stanley
officiating. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park in
Salem. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, and
from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday. Online condolences may be made at
