Charles Lawrence Novack, Cradock High School 1958

Charles Lawrence Novack, 65, died on March 28, 2006.
He was a native of Portsmouth, a member of Cradock Presbyterian Church, a retired banker and former member of the Portsmouth Elks Lodge. Charles was nicknamed "Poochie" when he was a youngster and the name stuck for his lifetime. He made friends wherever he went. He was respected in the Portsmouth banking community.

Charles was predeceased by his mother, Elma Novack. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Janice, his father, Lawrence Novack and his wife Fern of Dunnellon, Fla.; two daughters, Stephanie LaMarche and her husband Dr. Donald LaMarche Jr. and Lynne Jensen and her husband Chris Jensen; granddaughter, Emma Jensen; two brothers, Nathan Novack and his wife Peggy of Wallops Island, Va., and Dennis Novack and his wife Gail of Durham, N.C.; mother-in-law, Lillian Sumrell of Chesapeake; brother-in-law, Phillip Sumrell of Gates County, North Carolina; several nieces, nephews and two special little dogs.

A funeral was held in Loving Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel, by the Rev. Waverly C. Smith III with burial following the services in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.

His family is very grateful for the wonderful care during his final days by the staff of Jewish Family Services and Odyssey Health Care.
