George Rawleigh Meiggs, 62, died Nov. 12, 2001.

Mr. Meiggs was born in Moyock, N.C., to the late George Earnest and Nancy Harding Meiggs. He graduated from Craddock High School, where he was a track star all four years. Mr. Meiggs later served in the U.S. Coast Guard and became a commercial painter. Mr. Meiggs is survived by Nancy Rose Meiggs of Chesapeake; two sisters, Katherine Rose of Gettysburg, Pa., and Amanda Loessin of Norfolk; a niece, Bethany Boyce; and two nephews, Robert D. and George Clayton Boyce.

Memorial services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Twiford's Colonial Chapel, Chesapeake.
