Faye Hooker-Parrish Class of 1956 |
Chesapeake - Faye Hooker Parrish, 69, of the 400 block of Carlisle Road, passed away May 25, 2006, at her home. She was born in Concord, N.C., to the late Harlan Z. and Lucille C. Hooker. She was a member of Fairview Heights Baptist Church where she served the Lord through the Esther class, the Seniors Group, the Hostess Committee and in many other ways.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 48 years, Bill Parrish; son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Tonya Parrish; grandchildren, Ashley and Andrew; a sister, Joyce King (Jim) of Pleasant Garden, N.C.; brothers, Buzzy Hooker (Jean), Ray Hooker (Julia) and Tommy Hooker (Marcia) of Chesapeake, Ira Hooker of Edenton, N.C., and Bobby Hooker (Linda) of Portsmouth. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, extended family and many wonderful friends. She was predeceased by a brother, Eugene Hooker.
She graduated from Portsmouth General Nursing School and had retired as a registered nurse for Dr. James Psimas after 25 years and the Norfolk Naval Shipyard Dispensary.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Fairview Heights Baptist Church, 4704 Deep Creek Blvd., Portsmouth, VA 23702. Pastor Fred Williams will officiate. Burial will follow in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and other times at the home. Memorial donations may be made to the church.
