Nathan E. Novack, CHS-56 husband of Peggy SIms Novack, CHS-57 died on Wednesday. Mr. Nathan Earl Novack, 77, beloved husband of Peggy Sims Novack, and a resident of Wallops Island, VA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at his home. Born July 2, 1938 in Marquette, MI and reared in Portsmouth, VA, he was a son of the late Lawrence Clifford Novack and Elma Stewart Novack. Nathan attained a Bachelor of Science Electrical Engineering degree from Virginia Tech and then accepted a position with NASA Wallops as an AST, Electronic Engineer (Radar), where he later retired as Chief, Engineering and Safety Division. During his thirty-four and a half years of government service, Nathan helped to develop the new modernized radar system that is still in use today, was awarded the NASA Exceptional Service Medal in March 1993, and was reported to be a great supervisor. In 1973, he and his business partner and friend, William Earl Dennis, started growing and selling azalea bushes. Together, they successfully ran this business, as a second full time job, for over thirty years. A member of Atlantic United Methodist Church for forty-three years, Nathan loved his church and humbly dedicated his life to serving the Lord. Above all his successes, he was most proud of his family, and remained devoted to providing for their every need. He adored his wife, children, and grandchildren and treasured every moment he spent with them. In addition to his wife, survivors include three children, Steven Craig Novack and wife Karen of Pocomoke, MD, Natalie Novack Binder and husband James of Atlantic, VA, and Deanna Novack Johnson and husband Danny of Lake Mary, FL; a brother, Dennis Walter Novack and wife Gail of Durham, NC; seven grandchildren, Amber, Kelsey, and Stevie Novack, Tristan and Tanner Binder, and Kayla and Taylor Johnson; a sister-in-law, Janice Novack; and several nieces and nephews. Other than his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Charles Lawrence Novack; and a grandson, Craig Nathan Novack. A memorial service will be held at the Atlantic United Methodist Church on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at 2:00 p.m., with The Reverend Maury Enright officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Atlantic United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 159, Atlantic, VA 23303.
