James Dennis "J.D." Ainsley Class of 1956 |
James was born Oct. 4, 1936, in North Carolina to Dennis and Hilga Ainsley. James will forever be remembered for his generosity and kindness to whomever he came into contact with; he did not know a stranger. Mr. Ainsley is survived by his beloved wife of more than 52 years, Dianne; three children, Rusty (Connie), Randy (Heather) and Jeannie (Tony); grandchildren, Amanda (James), Scarlett, Jesse, Skyler, Sterling, Lacey, Audrey, Abbie and Brianna; sister, Sarah; and a host of nieces, nephews, and countless friends. J.D. served in the Navy Reserves early in his life, worked as a planner/estimator for the government for more than 20 years, retired, and went back to work for VSE (Norfolk). He always went back for more and worked up to the end. He graduated from Cradock High School in 1956 and married his high school sweetheart in 1957. Mr. Ainsley was a member of the N.S. Skirmish Association, "Dismal Swamp Rangers" for nearly 50 years.
A memorial service in honor of J.D. is planned for Saturday, Aug. 22, at 6 p.m. at 4841 Sondej Ave., Chesapeake, VA 23321. Cremation Society of Virginia, Hampton Roads office is assisting the family. Online condolences may be made at www.cremate.org. |
