Margaret Ann Mitchell Harlan, 58, of the 5600 block of Rappahannock Road, the loving and devoted wife of Kenneth R. Harlan Sr. and the proud and loving mother of three beautiful children passed on to her heavenly father on Feb. 28, 1996.

Ann was born in Norfolk on July 14, 1937, to Mrs. Blanche Lints Mitchell and the late Arnie D. Mitchell. She was a school bus driver for the Virginia Beach City Schools and a member of the School Bus Drivers Association. She worked with visually impaired students at the Center for Effective Learning in Virginia Beach for 22 years. Her memory will always be in the hearts of her husband, family and friends. She attended Kempsville, Cradock and Maury High Schools and sang in the Maury and Cradock Choruses. She was a member of the All City Chorus in Portsmouth while at Cradock High. She was a long time piano student of Dr. Kingdon in Portsmouth and gave her piano recital there. She was a Protestant and a long time active member of Calvary Presbyterian Church in Norfolk.

Besides her husband she is survived by two daughters, Karen Lynne Harlan and Kimberly Ann Harlan, both of Virginia Beach; a son, Kenneth R. ''Ken'' Harlan Jr. of Chesapeake; two brothers, Robert E. Mitchell of Ivor, Va., and Gary M. Mitchell of Virginia Beach.

The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at Kellum Funeral Home, Pleasant Hall, Kempsville Chapel, by the Rev. James A. Meads Jr. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. today. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to St. Mary's Infant Home, Norfolk.
