James Edward Tribble, III

Kitty Hawk - James Edward Tribble, III, 78, of Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, passed away on June 9, 2014. Jim was born May 21, 1936 in South Carolina and raised in Portsmouth, Virginia, the son of James E. Tribble, Jr. and Emily Rice Tribble. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, and retired after 33 years of service as an electronics technician and research analyst in the Research and Test Lab of Southern Railway, which later became Norfolk Southern.

Jim liked to travel, shop, read, fish, and could repair most anything you handed him. He was an expert fishing rod builder and many people at Cape Point referred to him as “the Mitchell man”. Jim was a past scoutmaster and explorer post adviser, as well as managing his sons in little league baseball. As a conservationist, Jim has installed wood duck nesting houses on the community pond - he loved all things “ducky”.

He was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Jane Wynne Tribble. After he was widowed, Jim was lucky enough to meet and have in his life a new partner, June H. Donham, of Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina. Jim is survived by his sons, Brian L. Tribble and wife Linda of Rippon, West Virginia, and David B. Tribble and wife Christine of Portsmouth, Virginia, his grandson, Jacob G. Tribble of Portsmouth, Virginia, his granddaughter, Johanna L. Tribble, of Stanley, Virginia, his sister Judy T. Klauser of St. Petersburg, Florida, as well as many other family and friends.

A celebration of life service will be held for family and friends on Sunday, June 15, 2014 from 12-2 p.m. at the Kitty Hawk Pier in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina.
