Wilbur Lucas ''Big Red'' Johnson Sr., 60, of the 3100 block of Martin Johnson Road, owner and operator of Johnson's Ship Propeller in Chesapeake, died March 9, 1994, in a Portsmouth hospital.

Mr. Johnson was born in Durham, N.C. He was a member of Deep Creek Baptist Church. He was an outstanding baseball player at Cradock High School and with the Cleveland Indians. He was also inducted into the Tidewater Amateur Softball Hall of Fame.

He was a loving husband and father and is survived by his wife, Lorraine S. Johnson; two daughters, Sheryl J. Blalock and Cheri J. Toler; two sons, Wilbur L. Johnson Jr. and Gary M. Johnson; and one sister, Maxine J. Harris, all of Chesapeake. He was also a devoted grandfather to his 12 grandchildren, Travis, Jennifer, Christopher, Ryan, Joshua, Ashley, Brittany, Kristen, Kyle, Kurt, Katie and Colby.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Deep Creek Baptist Church by the Rev. Ernie Myers. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, from 7 to 8 p.m. today.
