Edith Anne Goodrich Mitchell, 65, of McLean St., died Feb. 16, 2000.

She was a native of Suffolk and a member of Grove Park Baptist Church. She was the widow of James C. Mitchell Sr. and was also predeceased by her parents, Susie Adams Goodrich and Wesley L. Goodrich Sr., and a sister, Venita Griffin.

Mrs. Mitchell is survived by two daughters, Deborah M. Hopson and her husband, Billy E. Hopson, of Portsmouth and Donna M. Williams and her husband, Roger Jeffrey Williams, of Newport, N.C.; a son, James C. Mitchell Jr. of Portsmouth; a sister, Paige G. Heise of Portsmouth; two brothers, Wesley L. Goodrich Jr. of Portsmouth and Charles R. Goodrich of Little Rock, Ark.; an uncle, Wilson Adams of Chesapeake; a granddaughter, Angela H. Perea and her husband, Edgar L. Perea; two grandsons, James C. Mitchell III and Shane Jeffrey Williams; a great-grandson, Brandon K. Perea; a dear and devoted friend, Robert H. Warren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Mitchell will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Loving Funeral Home Chapel, Churchland, by the Rev. Ray Cutchins with burial in Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
