Georgia Rose Gibbs, 70, of Keller, Texas, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by angels and her family on Easter Sunday, April 16, 2006, following a long illness. Georgia, known as "Nonnie" to her immediate family, was born on June 27, 1935 to Robert and Leona Bullard of Johnson City, Tenn. She attended the College of William & Mary, and retired after 30 years of service with the Veterans Administration in Roanoke, Virginia. Georgia was a resident of Roanoke for more than 30 years. In 2003, Georgia moved to Keller, Texas to be near her family. Georgia loved her family and found great joy in her grandchildren. Georgia's other love was antiques, and traveling to England in search of favored pieces. Georgia was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Leona; and mother-in-law, Mildred Owens. Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Cal Gibbs of Keller, Texas; daughter, Cathy Decker and husband, Michael of Keller; son, Scott Gibbs and wife, Lisa of S. Burlington, Vermont; sister, Betty Portafe and husband, Maury of Virginia Beach, Virginia; sister, Eula Finley and husband, Clyde of Fredricksburg, Virginia; six grandchildren, Brittany, Scott, Payton, Jillian, and twins Preston and Parker. Funeral, 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church of Keller, 225 Keller Pkwy (FM 1706). Burial 1 p.m. at DFW National Cemetery in Dallas. Visitation 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
