Joseph Emory McLendon, 67, died March 30, 1999, in a Norfolk hospital.
A native of Moore County, N.C., he was a retired foreman at Jack N. Powell Inc. and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Lafayette Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by a daughter, JoAnne M. Johnson and her husband, Jeff, of Virginia Beach; a son, Gregory N. McLendon of Norfolk; a sister, Edith M. Hedgepeth of Portsmouth; a brother, Ronald W. McLendon of Virginia Beach; two grandchildren, Hayley and Savannah; his former wife, Annette P. McLendon of Virginia Beach; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Theresa M. Collins, and a brother, Herbert W. McLendon Jr.
A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Rev. T.M. Frye. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
