HAMPTON - Sylvia Mae Balzer, 69, died Wednesday, March 12, 2003. Born in Newport News, she was a lifelong resident of the Peninsula where she had, with her husband, Ken, owned and operated Kecoughtan Laundry since 1948.

In addition to her husband, Kenneth B. Balzer, she is survived by her daughter, Susan Sloan Balzer of Hampton and two aunts, Edith Epling of Newport News and Gladys Mills and her husband, Blair, of Hampton.

A funeral service will be conduced at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home chapel with Rev. William R. Kyle, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park.
