Arthur Perry Creamer

Portsmouth - Arthur Perry Creamer of Tappahannock, Virginia went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Sunday morning, January 8, 2017. He was 83 years young. A celebration of life will be held at Tappahannock Memorial United Methodist Church on Saturday, January 14 at 1 pm. Art was the oldest of four children born to Arthur Newport Creamer and Bessie Mae Perry Creamer in the Cradock area of Portsmouth, VA.

He was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Frances C. Newcomb of Seaford, VA. He is survived by his wife, Vonnie C. Creamer, his brother, Ronald W. Creamer (Maggie Sue) of Portsmouth, and his sister Carol C. Beedie (David) of Edenton, NC. Also, Art has two children, Gary Creamer (Debbe) of Bracey, VA and Pamela Waterman (Todd) of Chesapeake, VA and three step-sons, Terry Carson (Robyn) of Millers Tavern, Trent and Scott Carson of Tappahannock, VA. Additionally, Art has five grandchildren, Holly C. Jenkins (Tyler) of Fayetteville, NC, Michelle C. Hente (Matt) of Sacramento, CA, Michael Creamer of Blacksburg, VA, Jacob and Eric Waterman, both of Chesapeake, VA. Step-grandchildren are Kallie, Hannah, and Madisyn of Tappahannock, VA, and Kinston and Kaleb Carson of Millers Tavern, VA. Art was also blessed with two great-grandchildren, Arthur Jenkins and Ethan Hente.

Art leaves behind many beloved nephews, nieces, and friends. Art earned his Eagle Scout as well as the God & Country Award, graduated from Cradock High School in 1950, graduated from Lynchburg College in 1954, and then served our country as a member of the United States Marine Corps. He served his local community as a Boy Scout Leader, as a Life Member of the Lion's Clubs International and as a faithful giver of blood through the Red Cross. He served his church, Tappahannock Memorial United Methodist Church, in many official capacities and was a Certified Lay Speaker in the UMC. As a member of Gideon's International he served his Lord by helping to spread the Word of God by distributing Bibles far and wide. He personally witnessed the Love of Jesus to others wherever he went. He will be missed by many. Memorial contributions may be made to Tappahannock Memorial UMC, the Lion's Club International, or the Gideon's International.
