Suffolk - Juanita Evans Wood, 81, died peacefully at home on Monday, June 30, 2014. She was born on July 9, 1932 in Roxboro, NC; and was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Ethel Bowen; and her first husband, George O. Evans, Jr. Juanita was the former Secretary and Treasurer of Evans Electric in Portsmouth; and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Portsmouth and the Portsmouth Moose Lodge #898.

She is survived by her husband, Woodrow "Woody" Wood; her daughter, Teresa E. Anderson; two sons, Dan R. Evans and wife Susan and George E. Evans and wife Toni; a sister, Priscilla Hursey; a brother, L. Tommy Bowen; and seven grandchildren, Danny Evans, Amanda Evans, Nick Evans, Dusty Anderson, Brittani Anderson, Geoffrey Anderson; and Daniel Evans.

A celebration of Juanita's life will be held at 11 AM Thursday, July 3, 2014, in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel by Dr. Philip J. Parker and Dr. Bryan Brooks. Interment will follow at Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6 8 PM.
