Ruben Page Dowell

PORTSMOUTH – Ruben Page Dowell, 86, of Aylwin Rd. passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2017 in his home. He was born on January 31, 1931 in Orange, VA to the late Ruby and Lillie Dowell; and was a proud, decorated U.S. Army Korean War veteran. Ruben retired as a salesman for the Portsmouth Gas Company.

He is survived by his wife, Ada King Dowell; his daughter, Sandra Dowell Renslow and husband Douglas; His son, Michael Dowell and his wife Neldara; six grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

A gathering of remembrance will be held on Thursday, May 4, 2017 from 6 – 8 PM in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
