Alex W. Oliver, Jr. Class of 1945

The Virginian-Pilot, (Norfolk, VA) - June 24, 1997 Alex W. Oliver Jr., 71, of the 3400 block of Monroe St. died June 22, 1997, in a local hospital. Former superintendent of plumbing, properties management general services for the City of Portsmouth, he was retired. He was a member of Lee Memorial Baptist Church and Lake Drummond Masonic Lodge No. 178, Cradock Royal Arch Chapter No. 72. He was a native of Williamson, W.Va., and is survived by his wife, Mildred Ann Oliver; daughter, Mildred Ann Mason and her husband, Donny L. Mason, of Portsmouth; son, A. Rae Oliver, and his wife, Tina, of Portsmouth; mother, Goldie Lowe Oliver of Chesspeake; two sisters, Mrs. Jane Smith and her husband, the Rev. Carlton E. Smith, and Suzanne Trefny and her husband, James Trefny, all of Chesapeake. A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Loving Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel, by the Rev. Carlton E. Smith and Dr. Ray O. Jones. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery. There will be a visitation today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
