Betty Arlene Beauchamp-Buckalew

Chesapeake - Betty Arlene Buckalew, 87, passed away on Friday, November 22, 2013 in her residence. She was a native of Atlanta, GA and was the wife of Edward J. Buckalew. Betty was a graduate of Cradock High School, Columbia International University and Baptist Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. After her retirement she was a volunteer at Chesapeake General Hospital. She was also a member of Deep Creek Baptist Church and its senior choir.

Besides her husband she is survived by a step-daughter June E. Emmell of New Castle, Delaware; two sisters, Jean McDermet of Portsmouth and Claudia Myers of Norfolk; three nephews, Gary, Craig and Cris.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 27 in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd Chapel by Dr. M. Craig Barnes and Dr. Gary Barnes. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Comfort Care Hospice or Deep Creek Baptist Church Senior Choir or "Feeding the Five Thousand" program of Western Branch Baptist Church, Portsmouth.
