Betty Jean Pool-Meeks
Class of 1942

Betty Jean Meeks went home to be with her family in heaven at the age of 92 on July 5th 2017. She is survived by her son, Andrew Meeks and his wife Connie, along with several grand and great grand children and other members of her extended family.

Jean graduated from the Old Cradock High in 1942, and retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard after 40 years of service as a telephone operator. In her retirement years, she was known as (Gee Gee), she enjoyed watching children at her home both before and after school for 25 more years.

Along with the many children she loved and cared for every day, she was also blessed with countless memories of her many dogs she raised and loved throughout the years.

We would like to thank Heartland Hospice for their help and care during mom’s last days. We would also like to thank our great neighbor Sharon Chrisman, for always being there for us whenever we needed someone to help watch mom if we had to go somewhere.

The family will receive friends at Loving Funeral home in Churchland on Monday from 6:00 – 7:00 PM. The burial service will be private.
