Portsmouth - Irene Edmondson Grimstead 93, passed away on April 19, 2016. She was a member of Churchland Baptist Church and retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard. Irene was born in Indianapolis, IN and was raised in Cradock.

Irene was the widow of the late, Dallas L. Grimstead and predeceased by a great-grandson, Logan T. Moore. She is survived by her children, Nancy Sue Grimstead, W. Joseph Grimstead and wife, Wanda S. Grimstead, James B. Grimstead and wife, Krystina R. Grimstead; grandchildren, Paige A. Grimstead, Layne E. Moore, Dana L. Grimstead, Matthew B. Reeve, Dallas L. Grimstead, William VanPatten Dowding III, James Wesley Alden Dowding, Samuel Benjamin Oast Dowding; great grandchildren, Ansley P. Moore, and Kellan R. Moore.

A graveside funeral service will be held at Churchland Baptist Church Cemetery by Dr. Dan Koger on Friday, April 29, 2016 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made at www.cureSMA.org. Loving Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
