Portsmouth – Rubin Bryan Young, 74, of 61 Aylwin road died Wednesday in a hospital after a long illness.

A native of Statesville, N.C., he was the husband of Mrs. Eva D. Young and a son of Joseph and Mrs. Sarah Ferebee Young.

He was a retired schoolteacher.

Besides his widow, surviving are a daughter, Mrs. James R. Cook of Blacksburg; a son, Dr. Rubin B. Young of Richmond; two sisters, Mrs. Kate Evans and Mrs. Annie L. Robeson of High Point, N.C.; and five grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held today at 3 p.m. in Baugham & Weaver Funeral Home, Rich Square, by the Rev. James Brown and the Rev. Lee Jamieson, Burial will be in Lasker Cemetery.
