Lexington, SC - Marjorie Y. Weaver age 98 of Lexington, SC passed away peacefully November 27, 2011 after a long and full life filled with many friends and family that loved and cherished her presence in their lives.

Marjorie had resided at the Presbyterian Home of Lexington, SC since 1999. She was born Marjorie Alpheus Yancey on April 3, 1913 at home on the family farm in Mecklenburg County, Virginia to Anna and Winder Yancey. She was pre-deceased by her siblings, Fred Yancey, Julianna Hogenboom, Susan Ehlers and George Yancey.
 
Marjorie was a true believer in education and proved it by attending several institutions of higher learning. She graduated from State Teachers College in Fredericksburg, VA and William Jennings Bryan University in TN. She also attended William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA. Her first teaching position was in Clarkesville, VA (1935-39). A move to Norfolk County, VA brought a faculty position teaching, Latin, English and French (1944-53) and eventually becoming their Librarian (1954-71). Library Science was Marjorie's true love and she influenced many students at Cradock High School. Marjorie was an avid lifetime reader. Her love of gardening was cultivated from her days on the farm throughout her life. She was an accomplished Bridge player. She was a member of the Victory Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star in Portsmouth, VA. Once retired she moved to Kill Devil Hills, NC where she and her husband Wendell had "many happy times" enjoying all the beach life had to offer. Church was an important part of her life...being raised in the Presbyterian Church, but also attended Cradock Baptist Church while living in Portsmouth, VA County, Santee Presbyterian before moving to Lexington, SC and becoming a member of Providence Presbyterian.

Marjorie married Wendell Lee Weaver on June 7th, 1941. They celebrated 58 years together before his death in 1999. They raised 2 sons, Wendell Lee, Jr. (deceased 2010) and George Alpheus. They were blessed with 2 daughter-in-laws Bertha (Cayce, SC and Joan (Kernersville, NC), 4 grandchildren, Wendell Lee Weaver, III (deceased 1980), Alexander (Nan) of Columbia, SC, Clayton and Douglas of Kernersville, NC and two great grand children, Trey and Morgan (Columbia, SC).
 
Grandma Margie aka GG will be greatly missed by friends and family that remember her generosity, quick smile, amazing capacity for love and offerings of encouragement.

A graveside service will be held at Zion United Methodist Church 1147 Zion Road Dorchester, SC on Wednesday November 30th, at 2:00 pm. A memorial service will be held at the Chapel of the Presbyterian Home at
10:00 AM on Thursday December 1st. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to The Presbyterian Home, 700 DaVega Drive Lexington, SC 29073, Providence Presbyterian Church 1112 Hummingbird Dr, West Columbia, SC

Marjorie's family would like to thank the staff of The Presbyterian Home Healthcare Unit for their care and attention for Marjorie for the last 4 years.
