Dr. Oral Edward ``O.E.'' Ware, age 66, of Hampton, died at his home on Sunday, Nov. 15, 1992.

He had been a Hampton resident since 1964, and was a native of West Virginia.His career in Virginia public education spanned over 36 years upon his retirement and included positions locally as a distributive education teacher at Cradock and Churchland high schools, and as the school division D.E. coordinating supervisor for Norfolk County (1950-1959), as principal of Randolph-Henry High School in Charlotte County (1960-1964), as principal of Hampton High School (1964-1972), as the first full time superintendent of schools in Poquoson (1972-1977), and as director of New Horizons Technical Center for Hampton, Newport News, Williamsburg, York and James City counties (1978-1986).

He was a member of the Hampton Baptist Church and was active in numerous professional, civic and church organizations.

He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II, aboard the battleship USS Texas in the Pacific theater.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Elizabeth, and their five children: Mrs. Timothy (Mary) Crilley of Ortanna, Pa., Mrs. Munro A. (Sharon) Rateau Jr. of Fluvanna County, Va., Mr. Dana Edward Ware of Plantation, Fla., Mr. James Eugene Ware of Reston, Va., and Mr. John Randall Ware of Hampton; additionally by his two sisters, Loretta Irene Chase of Westover, W.Va., and Doris Jean Hollandsworth of Jarrettsville, Md.; two brothers, Denzil E. Ware of Crossville, Tenn., and Dana G. Ware of Orangevale, Calif., as well as five granddaughters and one great-grandson.

There will be a funeral at the Hampton Baptist Church, 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, 1992, conducted by Dr. Chester L. Brown and Dr. Anne Rosser. Interment will follow at the Peninsula Memorial Park in Newport News.

The family will receive friends at the Lawrence B. Wood Funeral Home Wednesday evening from 7:30 to 9 p.m.
