WILLIAMSBURG - LeRoy Rose died peacefully Aug. 14, 2011 at age 90. Born and raised in Isle of Wight County, he graduated from the University of Virginia with a master's degree in education. He went on to pursue a lifelong career in education, first working at Cradock High School in Portsmouth, then at the U.S. Army Transportation School at Fort Eustis and at TRADOC at Fort Monroe.

He was a member of Bruton Parish Church where he taught Sunday school, then a member of St. Martin's Episcopal Church on Jamestown Road. He was also an active member of the Kiwanis Club of Williamsburg.

His wife, Norma Rose, a retired school teacher, passed away Jan. 6, 2001.

He is survived by his two children, Brian Rose of New York City and his daughter, Cathy Rose of San Francisco; three step-sons, Peter Adams, Ronald Adams, and Thomas Adams; his first wife, Louise Rose; his sister, Alma Richardson; grandson, Brendan; and cousins, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at St. Martin's Episcopal Church, 1333 Jamestown Road, Williamsburg, Thursday, Aug. 18, at 1 p.m. A reception with light refreshments will be held following the service at the Williamsburg Lodge, 310 South England St.
