Donald Bruce ''Donnie'' Mullen Jr., 23, of the first block of Sampson Place, a welder, died Jan. 18, 1993, in his residence.

Mr. Mullen was born in Frankfurt, Germany. He was employed at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard for five years. He was a member of Highland Baptist Church and the Machinists Union at the shipyard. He was a former member of Cradock Little League.

Survivors include his wife, Terri D. Mullen; two sons, Donald Bruce Mullen III and Stephen Andrew Mullen; his parents, Debra Parker Mullen and Donald Bruce Mullen Sr.; two sisters, Kristina Woodby and Trisha L. Mullen; two brothers, John Clifton Mullen and Kevin Lee Mullen; and maternal grandmother, Ruby Wright, all of Portsmouth; paternal grandfather, Clifton Stephen Mullen Sr. of Norfolk; and two brothers-in-law, Yancey Shane Davenport and Beau Derek Davenport, both of Portsmouth.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Olive Branch Cemetery by the Rev. Kevin Wilson. The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, this evening from 7 to 9 p.m. and other times at 214 N. Fairview Circle, Portsmouth, and 26 Bainbridge Ave., Portsmouth.
