PORTSMOUTH - Virginia Lee "Ginger" Ward, 38, of Chatham Hall Drive, Virginia Beach, died May 20, 2007, in a Norfolk hospital.
Ginger, a native of Portsmouth, was a teacher at Churchland Elementary School. She was a member of the PEA, the PTA of Portsmouth and Virginia Beach, the Churchland Softball Association and the KRA Softball Association. She was a member of the Basilica of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Norfolk.
Survivors include her two children, Erika Ward Madray and husband Brandon of Portsmouth and Bianca Ward of Virginia Beach; a grandson, Brandon Madray Jr.; four sisters, Christina Lancaster-Deraps, Sandra Woodward-Godfrey, Laura Ellis and Kelly Gooch; three brothers, Lee Woodward, Dustdevil Ansley and Daniel Hawks; her mom, Rose O'Malley of Virginia Beach; and special families, the Ward family, the O'Malley family, the Hawks family and Steve Forehand.
A graveside funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens, Suffolk, by the Rev. Ernest Bulinda. Memorial donations may be made to the Erika Madray's Fund c/o Bank of America. Foster Funeral Home, Portsmouth, is handling arrangements.
