Constance Renee Jones-Thompson, 43, of the 2700 block of Watts Ave., passed away peacefully in the arms of her heavenly father, Jan. 4, 2004. She fought a long battle and is now at peace. Born in Newsome, Va., she was a graduate of Cradock High School. She was a member of St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church, Portsmouth, and participated in their food bank. She was married to Paul J. Thompson of Portsmouth. Her father, Johnnie F. Jones Jr., recently predeceased her.

Survivors include a son, Terrell Small; daughter, Jasmine Thompson; mother, Gloria Flythe Jones of Portsmouth; four sisters, Priscilla Jones of Portsmouth, Kim Mortimer and husband Stanley of Tampa, Fla., Michelle Bazemore and husband Roderick of Suffolk and LaDale Wilson of Chesapeake; three brothers, Johnnie F. Jones Jr. of Jacksonville, Fla., Tony Jones of Richmond and Gary Jones Sr. and wife Milranda of Suffolk; 16 nieces and nephews; cousins; three devoted friends, Odessa Washington, Freda Royster and Daphlyn Johnson- White; and many others.

A funeral will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. in St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church, Portsmouth, by the Rev. Dr. Curtis E. Edmonds Sr. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery, Portsmouth, with Corprew Funeral Home, Portsmouth chapel, in charge. Viewing at the funeral home will begin at noon today. The body will be taken to the church at 10 a.m. Friday.
