Eugene McCarthy Rudy

Eugene McCarthy Rudy, 59, loving and devoted husband of Ann Allen Rudy and father of Ann Elizabeth Rudy, died suddenly Sunday, July 16, 2006 while riding his Harley on the sun-dappled roadways of rural Virginia - one of his many favorite pastimes. Gene proudly served our country in both the U.S. Navy and Naval Reserve. He was a successful entrepreneur and worked hand-in-hand with Ann in a variety of business pursuits. Gene was a talented and gifted guitarist, graphic designer, photographer and avid collector of eclectic treasures. He was a loyal and trusted friend, and his warm smile and keen wit will be deeply missed by many. Gene was born in Portsmouth, Virginia and was a graduate of Cradock High School and VCU's Department of Communication Arts and Design. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Clarence Rudy on May 24, 2006. In addition to his wife and daughter, Gene is survived by his mother, Mary Elizabeth Rudy of Virginia Beach; his sister, Susan Rudy Lindahl and her husband, David of Mesa, Arizona; his brother, Michael Bruce Rudy and his wife, Mary Anne of Columbia, South Carolina, and their families. A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 22, 2 p.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 709 Buffalo Street, Farmville, Virginia. Contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
