Barco - Joan Leslie Vincent, passed away peacefully and went to be with her Savior on Monday, November 28, 2016.

 

She was born in Portsmouth, VA on April 5, 1945 and grew up in the Academy Park Community on Greenwood Dr. Joan was the youngest of 9 siblings and she is predeceased by her beloved parents, Roy and Florence Pegram, as well as her second husband, Glen Vincent.

 

Joan had been a longtime resident at Sentara Nursing Center in Barco, NC since June 5, 2005 due to severe health issues. She was loved and adored by the Medical Staff there and was so blessed to have them and her longtime caretakers, Dana Hill and Don Carpenter, both of Virginia Beach, VA whom she considered as her own children.

 

Joan's sweet smile could light up a room. Her lifetime passions were her love of family, friends, children, softball, baseball (her Cubs won the World Series this year), her love of music, especially Elvis Presley, dancing and she was quite the daredevil in her younger years.

 

Left to cherish her precious memories are her two daughters, Florence Hugen and her husband Brian of Virginia Beach and Robin Fisher of Southampton County; a son, Martin Fisher and wife Denise of Versailles, Missouri; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; three sisters, Betty Harrison of Chesapeake, Priscilla Hudson and husband Joe of Chesapeake and Patricia Foxwell and husband Marvin of Elizabeth City; a brother, Charles Pegram and wife Carolyn of Chesapeake. She is now in heaven with her sisters, Mozelle, Mary, Daisy; a brother, Roy Pegram; and her beloved Mommy and Daddy. She will be dearly missed by all her family and friends.

 

A funeral service will be held 1 P.M. Saturday, December 3, at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel by the Rev. Ryan Robertson. Burial will follow in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 6:30 8:30 P.M.
