Darlene Hayden Knopp, CHS-63, died unexpectedly yesterday at home.

Lenora Darlene Hayden Knopp, 71, of the 5800 block of Craneybrook Lane, passed away Thursday, March 3, 2016 in her residence. A native of Portsmouth, she was a member of Holy Communion Lutheran Church. She was predeceased by her husband, James Herman Knopp.

Survivors include a daughter, Denice M. Thompson and husband David of Nags Head, NC; a son, Scott N. Moring and wife Donna of Currituck Co., NC; two sisters, Linda H. Bowers and Kathy H. Clary; a brother, David W. Nuckols of Essex, VT; a half-sister, Sandy Hayden; a half-brother, Robbie Hayden; a grandchild, Chenell Moring; and two great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Madison.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, at Holy Communion Lutheran Church by the Rev. Aaron Fuller. Burial will follow in Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church the hour prior to the service.
