Portsmouth - Dorothy "Dot" Grace Wells, 68, died February 13, 2013. A native of Portsmouth, she was preceded in death by her parents, James Edward and Effie Cones Bradshaw; step-mother, Allie Cox Bradshaw; and sister, Helen B. Wimbish. Dot was a volunteer with Cradock Little League Softball and the Girl's Club, where she also served on the board of directors. She was also an avid bingo player. She was a "stay-at-home mom" and was in her element as "Nanny" to her two precious grandchildren. Dot helped many people in many different ways and will be missed for her smile and kind heart.


Survivors include her loving husband of 46 years, Willie L. Wells; two daughters, Terri Wells and Wendy Hall and much loved son-in-law Stevie Hall, all of Portsmouth; two grandchildren, Taylor and Dylan Hall; two sisters, Annie B. Teller and Frankie Posey; five step-siblings, Dorothy Cook, Robert Cox, Walter Ray Cox, Nancy Warren and Allen Cox; special caregivers, niece, Sue Whitehurst, and sister-in-law, Betty Hockman; and many other nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. The family would also like to extend a special thanks to Bon Secours Hospice.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 16, at 1 PM in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel by the Rev. T.M. Frye. Burial will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery, Suffolk. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 6-8 PM. www.SturtevantFuneralHome.com
